Salary: USD $2,000 – $3,200/month (based on qualifications and cruise line)

Job Overview

We are seeking experienced and disciplined Security Officers to join the safety and security team aboard leading international cruise ships. Preference will be given to candidates based in South Africa with a background in military, law enforcement, or private security services.

The role involves maintaining safety, enforcing shipboard policies, protecting guests and crew, and responding to security incidents with professionalism and integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the safety and security of all passengers, crew, and ship assets
  • Conduct routine patrols, access control, and surveillance monitoring
  • Respond promptly to security incidents, emergencies, or breaches
  • Assist with crowd control during embarkation, disembarkation, and events
  • Enforce maritime safety regulations and company protocols
  • Conduct investigations and write incident reports when required
  • Support port security inspections and liaise with local authorities
  • Maintain logs and documentation per maritime law and ISPS Code

Qualifications and Requirements

  • South African citizenship or permanent residency strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 2–3 years' experience in military, police force, or maritime/private security
  • Valid passport and clean criminal record
  • STCW training and/or experience in maritime security is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of international security protocols (ISPS Code)
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal)
  • Physically fit and able to work long shifts onboard
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick decisions
  • Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills
