Student Experience (Safeguarding) Manager

Southwark College, part of NCG Group (a leading national provider of education and training) is looking to recruit a talented Safeguarding Manager to join our Student Experience team to support the safeguarding practice across the college.

Based at our Southwark College site, close to Waterloo Station, the successful candidate will work under the leadership of the Assistant Principal Student Experience and will manage a team of 7 staff with safeguarding responsibilities. The role supports the welfare of 1100 16-18 Study Programme learners and 2000 adult learners.

The college uses My Concern to manage safeguarding concerns, and this role holds operational responsibility for its effective use, administration, reporting and oversight.

Main Duties

The post holder will:

Hold responsibility for the management of all safeguarding concerns at Southwark College, including triage, risk assessment, monitoring, follow up and appropriate case closure

  • Provide operational leadership and management of safeguarding staff, systems, updates, and statutory and developmental staff training
  • Manage the effective use of the College's safeguarding software, including user management, data quality, reporting, and analysis for senior leadership and safeguarding governance
  • Coordinate safeguarding cases, ensuring effective information sharing, risk review and timely action
  • Manage referrals and liaise with external agencies and local partners to support early intervention and safeguarding practice
  • Support the College's mental health and wellbeing response
  • Be accountable for safeguarding performance data and reporting to Principalship in line with the College's strategic plan
  • Lead the College's student counselling service.
  • Work collaboratively with the Senior Management Team and wider college staff to deliver the College's strategic mission and vision
