Job Details
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Travel Nursing Assignment)
- Setting: 38-bed Orthopedic Unit (Acute Care Hospital)
- Shifts: 3x12-hour day shifts, weekends only (Fri–Sun or Sat–Mon, 06:45–19:15)
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,770 - $1,870 (Competitive pay for travel nurses)
- Start Date: May 4, 2026

- Charting / EMR: Cerner (Cerner charting experience preferred)

Job Requirements
- Active Illinois RN license (must be in hand at time of application)
- Minimum 1 year recent orthopedic or medical-surgical RN experience required (orthopedic nursing jobs preferred)
- BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross only)
- ACLS certification preferred
- Telemetry experience preferred (telemetry monitoring skills a plus)
- IV therapy and phlebotomy skills required (PICC line management, starting IVs)
- Cerner EMR/charting experience preferred
- Previous travel nursing or travel RN experience preferred
- Ability to float to other Med-Surg departments as needed
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality orthopedic nursing care to adult and geriatric patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries, trauma, and infections
- Manage and monitor patients with total joint replacements, spine surgeries, and complex orthopedic interventions
- Perform and manage IV therapy, including PICC line care and initiating IVs
- Monitor telemetry as needed and respond to patient changes
- Perform complex dressing changes, traction management, and bedside debridement
- Utilize specialized orthopedic equipment (slings, walkers, traction devices, etc.)
- Document care, assessments, and patient progress accurately using Cerner EMR
- Float to other Med-Surg units to support facility needs
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (orthopedic surgeons, PT/OT, case management) to ensure optimal patient outcomes
